Here you have an example use case with an interested client: He has an own made 3D model he wanted quoting prices for print it using 3D resin printing. A process commonly called SLA (Stereolithography) and newer that the classic FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) technique. Check this article for comprative results between SLA and FDM. So first, the interested collaborator contacts us and shows his model. Here is a quick preview:

To propose a correct pricing, the next step was to approximate the 3D model’s shape with one of our own. Here you see us posing an open-source and close enough 3D model.

Next, we could test the model’s printing time and consumed material. Given that the client was asking for different combinations of figurine sizes from 5 up to 20 cm, the maximum combinations of those combinations were tested:

As a last step, comes the pricing proposal. Here you have the tables presenting our prices proposed both in Euro and local TND currency. We can apply additional price reductions according to the needs. You can notice that resin printing offers the most competitive prices when multiple models are printed in on pass. All of them will take the same time. And that’s why, we also conder the model’s weights: 2 models weight consume more material.

And while the initial price of 1 model 43€~127tnd is higher than classic FDM printing, (according to the resolution and print time, of course), it offers a clear advantage of precision, and rapidly become more competitive pricewise, given that FDM takes more time+weight by adding more models, while resin based printing adds only weight, given that the unit prices for material have become very close nowadays.
